Offered by the third owner, this Ducati 900SS has a race history that includes a 3rd place finish at the 1980 24 Hours of Nelson Ledges.
According to the seller, the bike completed the most laps but it finished in 3rd place due to an unspecified penalty. Incredibly, there’s a 2+ hour video on YouTube about that exact race and the seller kindly notes that you can see this Ducati at 27:49 and 2:08:49:
The seller believes that the original owner bought the bike specifically to race in the event as it went to the second owner within a year. That owner rebuilt the motor with a “Woods Bros. Stage II tune” and eventually sold it to the current owner in 2007. The current owner also had the motor rebuilt (and converted to right side shift, though it’s now back to the left side) while maintaining the Stage II tune, along with plenty of other work in the last 7k miles that’s well documented in the listing. More seller should list a bike like this (check out the listing for a photo from the bike in the 1980 race)!
Issues are minor and include worn tires, very minor chrome pitting, and some non-functional dash lights. I adore the history of this bike and it looks to be well setup for someone that wants to ride a 900SS without being scared of putting wear on a pristine example.
