Every once in a while, you find someone who’s willing to invest a bunch of time and money into a motorcycle that most people would not think is worth. This seller knows what he’s done, noting that “I have more money and time in this machine than I could ever recover by selling it…I do projects like this to keep these historic machines out of the junkyard and to put them back on the road. There’s really no money to be made doing an old moped project this completely.” I love people like this – and you should, too, if you like deals.
Testi was founded in 1951 in Bologna, Italy, and they started by building small mopeds and scooters around 49cc motors. This is the Comfort, which is powered by a 49cc Motori Minarelli V1 engine and is good for 30 miles per hour. Per the seller, “I bought this moped a year ago in a big city alley. It looked like it belonged in the dumpster more than sitting next to the dumpster. Something about the look however, appealed to me (and I am not very smart), so I bought it and took it home.”
It had covered less than 300 miles before being put away in storage for almost 40 years, but now it’s been heavily refurbished with a full engine rebuild (all new roller bearings, seals, and gaskets), a new clutch, cables, controls, seat, and more.
