Fritz Egli is a former Swiss motorcycle racer who made a tremendous name for himself by building custom frames out of his speed shop. One of his first creations was a Vincent Black Shadow that won a hill climbing championship, and he’s still cranking out frames for a variety of bikes. In the 60s, Egli had become so successful with his frame for the Vincent that he had no less than 6 other companies copying his design! Here’s one of his less common offerings – a kit for the Ducati 900SS.
The seller unfortunately doesn’t have much information to share about this rare bike, solely noting that it uses an engine from Bruno dePrato’s (now Cycle World’s European Editor) Eagle 2 race bike (you should definitely check that article out if you’re interested in custom-built race bikes.
I wish I had more information to share, but the seller states that it’s been restored and doesn’t have any registration. It’s also got one of the coolest tanks I’ve seen in quite a while.
