Post Listing Update: After being relisted, this FLH still did not get any interest at $6,995.
I don’t want to call this FLH restored, but it’s clearly had a lot of work done recently. The seller (Classic Motorcycle Consignments) notes that the seller has invested over $24,000 as part of a 6 year ‘renovation’ after the bike was found in a chicken coop, though obviously the owner will only get a small fraction of that back in the pending sale which is why the opening bid has been reduced to $9,500.
The tin, forks, frame, and motor are the only original parts left on this example (VIN: 1HDADK6RYO3) – it now features a modern 5-speed transmission with new wheels, primary drive, brakes, starter, and more. The motor got a valve job as part of the refresh, and the paint is new as well.
I’ll leave a bit of the description to the consigner: “Sometimes the altering of motorcycles to your liking just does not work well for a resale. This particular Harley Davidson is a perfect example of “you can put money in but you cannot always get it out”. This is an excellent rider, smooth, clean, and reliable because of the way that it was built. After a reasonable time on the market the seller is ready to realize his loss and move on. This bike will sell, just a matter of what price?”
