Post Listing Update: This Monza did not meet reserve despite 25 bids up to $3,555.
Built as Guzzi’s attempt at a mass-market bike, the V50 was released in 1980 and also immediately got a sport version named the Monza. The Monza got bigger carbs and a few engine mods that yielded an extra 3 horsepower (up to 48), plus the stylish fairing. And while the European press loved this bike, it didn’t do so hot in the US. For more information on what made the V50 Monza so special and why it flew under the radar, check out this article from Motorcycle Classics.
This bike (VIN: ZGUPEAPE1BM100124) has 16,079 miles and is ‘conservatively rated as a 7 out of 10’. Bodywork (not the tank and fairing) have been repainted, and recently the clutch, coils, and brakes were rebuilt and replaced. Included with the sale are 20 years of maintenance records and receipts. Note that the handlebars aren’t original but they are still Guzzi bars and the air box has been replaced with K&N filters.
