Take the distinctive 500SL Pantah, then bore it out to get the 600SL, yielding an 11% boost in power.
The 600SL (actually a 583cc) was the first Ducati to use a hydraulic clutch. Other upgrades included Bosch ignition, Paoli forks, and a tougher gearbox. Just in ’82, Ducati made a really odd touring version called the 600TL – but I’ll wait to get into that until I can actually find one in sale. A year later, the Pantah got an even bigger engine and became the 650SL – most people agree the 650SL is the one to have, but they’re very, very difficult to find. For more on the entire Pantah line, check out this article from Real Classic.
This specific Ducati Pantah 600SL has an impressive 28,200 miles and is being offered by the 3rd owner. The engine’s been ported and has period correct Bub headers and Uni filters. Find it for sale in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada for $6,597 here on Kijiji.
