Post Listing Update: The BIN of this Katana was lowered to $10,500, but that wasn’t enough to get a buyer on eBay.

One of the most defining motorcycle of the 80s, the Katana was inspiring enough that it just got a reboot this year. This is one of the first 1,000 built, and it’s got a couple of 1st place awards from local shows.

It all started when Suzuki’s Marketing Manager in Germany said to Japanese management, “We had the most technically advanced bikes, but their design was uninteresting!” Suzuki hired Target Design (led by Hans Muth, ex-chief of BMW’s styling) to update the ‘company image.’ This was his first creation, which was an immediate show-stopper at the Cologne Motor Show in 1980. For all the information you would probably want on the Katana, check out this weirdly-hosted file created by Alexandre Godard.

This example is #749 and everything is said to work as it should. It’s had plenty of recent work done, including new brakes/battery/tires and rebuilt calipers/anti-dive/front fork seals. It’s won a couple of show awards and the seller offers a “money back guarantee” – if you don’t think it’s as described, you can return it within a week. Find this Katana for sale in Vernon-Rockville, Connecticut with a BIN of $12,000 here on eBay.
