10-31 Update: It’s back! Find it here on eBay – we’ll see if it hits the reserve this time or not.
Post-Auction Update: After being relisted, this Harley Davidson FXDG Willie G Special did not meet reserve at $10,000 on eBay.
The Harley Davidson FXDG Willie G Special was a one-year-only limited edition that was surprisingly subtle compared to other HD special editions. Sources disagree, but between 800-900 of the FXDG’s were built.
DG stands for Disk Glide – take a look at the rear wheel and you’ll see that this is the first Harley to have a solid rear wheel, though it’s got the traditional spoked wheel up front. Like the Model T, it was available in any color you wanted, as long as that color was metallic maroon – which supposedly looks amazing in the sun. You also got the lovely 1919 HD logo on the tank, and the twin belt drive. In Willie G’s words, this was the “ultimate Wide Glide.”
This specific Harley Davidson FXDG Willie G Special has just under 15,000 miles. The dealership selling this “Special Edition Twin Belt Wide Glide” notes that it’s in good condition, with just a few minor cosmetic blemishes.
