This rare bird is a Chang Jiang M5A Sidecar that served as a Beijing Armed Police Motorcycle for 12 years. If you’re looking for a sidecar rig that will stand out from the crowd, this should definitely be on your radar.
Those of you familiar with the CJ750 know it’s a copy of the old BMW boxer bikes from decades ago. You’ll see plenty of the M1/M/S models in the US, but this M5A, whcih comes with upper and lower fairings, an Earles-type fork, and trailer hitch, is incredibly rare in the states.
Claimed to be one of 3 examples in the country, this specific Chang Jiang M5A Sidecar has 13,254 miles and was restored by the factory in Beijing before being imported to the US in 2007. It served in police duty from new to 1996. This bike also comes with plenty of spare parts, including a short block, transmission, final drive, and miscellaneous parts. It’s been converted to electronic ignition and features custom diamond-plate luggage.
