5-13-21 Update:: Almost a year later, this interesting sidecar racer is back up for sale – find it with an opening bid of $500 and the reserve not yet met here on eBay.

Post Listing Update: This Harley-Davidson sidecar racer did not get any action at the BIN of $14,500 on eBay.

Built by Bob Bakker of Bakker Racing, this custom-frame sidecar features a 1,000cc Harley-Davidson V-Twin – and the requisite black/orange paint job, of course.

The seller has a great introduction to Bob, noting that he’s “one of those amazing people you probably have not have heard of, but he has been right there, elbow to elbow, working with motorcycle legends for almost 65 years!”

Highlights of Bob’s work include 2 creations at Barber (one of which was a landspeed streamliner sidecar that has gone 175 miles per hour), an extensive race history, R&D testing with American Honda, and apparently he’s also the gentleman who introduced Bud Ekins to the Rickman brothers. I’d recommend you go to the listing to learn more about Bob.

Details on this specific creation include a H-D Ironhead motor and 4-speed transmission paired with a reproduction S&S carb, Ultima electronic ignition, and Barnett Scorpion clutch. Bob hand-fabricated the entire steel chassis himself, which was “braze welded using an in-line-fluxer and a special welding rod imported from Holland. (90,000 lb tensile strength)” The front wheel is steel, the rear wheels are alloy, and they’re all 12″ and running new Yokohama race tires with AP Lockheed calipers to slow them down. It’s said to be new “except for some track testing and has about 3 miles on it.”
