Post Listing Update: Despite being relisted, this RGA got no interest at the opening bid of $12,500.
One of Laverda’s most iconic motorcycles was the RGS, an iconic sport tourer that Massimo Laverda once said was a “Real Grand Sport”. In ’84 and ’85, Laverda also offered a budget version called the RGA, and while most came with a chin fairing reminiscent of a base model BMW K100, this example has been given a much more aesthetically pleasing front fairing.
British importers Three Cross Motorcycles basically came up with the RGA when they found out after Laverda announced they were going to kill the 120. The RGA shaved a substantial amount off the price of the RGS (3,575 pounds versus 4,250). For more on that story and the specifications of the RGA, check out this 1984 review from Bike magazine hosted on MotorCycleSpecs.
This specific RGA (VIN: ZZVMVDGA9D0000011) has 8,373 miles and it’s been with the third owner for four years now. The seller says it starts, runs, and rides great – he acquired it after a period of storage and added DMC digital ignition, rebuilt the carbs as well as the brake and clutch hydraulic systems, and installed a new clutch, windscreen, battery, and tires.
