When the Yamaha FJ1100 was introduced, the press were infatuated. Rider Magazine called it “the best large displacement sport motorcycle of 1984, and maybe even the best in its class in the history of motorcycling,” and other mags called it Bike of the Year. Here’s a second year example of a bike that revolutionized what sport-touring bikes would become – big power and plenty of plastic.
The FJ11 was capable of 146 miles per hour thanks to a 1098cc inline four that produced 125 horsepower. For more on this future classic, check out this article on Motorcycle Classics.
This example has 24,800 miles and is claimed to look like it’s just a year old. Extras include a Corbin seat with matching backrest, Zero Gravity smoked windshield, and a rare Lockhart lower fairing. The bike has apparently been dropped twice when standing still, resulting in a scratch in the left exhaust and a crack on the right side of the upper fairing. That’s a bummer, but not bad considering the age and mileage.
