Between the small and the large, though, there is a perfect size that enhances the multi-functional nature of these “dual-purpose” motorcycles. That balance seems to be right around 350cc. This is enough displacement so that freeway travel won’t spin an engine’s heart out, without the weight and bulk that can limit off-road use mainly to smooth dirt roads.” Those are the words from a period Cycle World review comparing the only two bikes that editors thought matched the above description: the Honda XL350R and the Yamaha XT350. Here’s your chance to snag one of the latter.

The Yamaha ended up losing that CW comparison but if you’re buying one today it’s not because you’re looking for the best bike in the class. Yamaha claimed a wet weight of 301 pounds, 31 horsepower, 21.7 foot-pounds of torque from the 346cc air-cooled four-stroke single, and 9.8/8.3 inches of suspension travel.

This example has roughly 4,500 miles and it’s said to be completely original. Per the seller, “the carbs have been recently went through and manifold was replaced as the rubber was leaking. It is a 6 speed so cruises highway speeds easily and is a capable enough trail bike that you can have all kinds of fun off road. It starts in 2-3 kicks when cold and 1 kick when warm. Lights work, brake lights work, and signals work (don’t flash so need a new flasher unit $15) and has California title and current registration. This is a turn key motorcycle ready for commutes or off road trail riding.”
