The offering for another Moto Morini K2 for sale means I get to share the story with you of Herdan Corporation of Pennsyvlania, which used to be the US importer of Moto Morini. In the 80s, they offered an annual program called the “Moto Morini European Tour” – similar to the European Delivery program that automobile manufacturers like BMW offer now.
For between $4,850 and $5,000, you’d get to enjoy 17 days in Europe on a guided tour on your brand new Morini, which of course would then follow you home.
Reader John K also alerted me to this flyer from the ’87 Tour, which gives you a better idea of what the tour entailed (note the option to buy a Camel or Excalibur):
The seller of this K2 (VIN: ZLMAK3337FB024378) claims that this is one of maybe 10 K2s in the US that came over as part of the program, a number I cannot verify. This bike has just 2,383 miles and spent several years in a dealer showroom. Find it for sale in Spicewood, Texas with bidding up to $2,025 and the reserve not yet met or a BIN of $6,500
