Built as a tribute to Marco Lucchinelli’s success at the 1986 Battle of the Twins race at Laguna Seca, this limited edition of the 750 F1 features a decal of Marco’s signature on the tank. It’s nearly the same as the Montjuich, except for little changes like different cylinder heads, the plastic rear fender, some changes to the clutch mechanism, a new muffler, and some cost cutting measures like a steel tank, and the wheels/brake discs from a Ducati Paso.
The power plant is derived from the 1984 750 TT1 racer that replaced the 600 TT2 from ’81. With the momentum and attention the Italian manufacturer garnered with the success of Mike Hailwood, the F1 was was a popular model. The F1 featured a constant-mesh five-speed tranny and its 748.1cc engine made 94hp at 10,000RPM. Only 2,501 total units of the F1 were produced from 1985-88 including different versions such as the Laguna Seca, Montjuich and Santa Monica – roughly 200 Laguna Seca examples were built.
This example (VIN: ZDM3GA3M0HB750161) is offered by the third owner, who acquired it ten years ago. He has covered 318 of the 7,353 miles on the odometer. It was serviced in July with a carb rebuild, oil/filter change, new battery, and new turn signal mounting rubbers. The last valve inspection and belt change was in 2013. Upgrades include a WP rear shock and Silentium black ceramic-coated exhaust, and the seller states there are a few wear marks from the carburetors making contact with the frame.
