1987 Yamaha SRX250

For decades, Kawasaki ruled the 250cc ‘sport’bike market – though Honda has recently taken a chunk of the market with their CBR250R. Honda also challenged the little Ninja in the 80s with the VTR250, though it did not have much commercial success. For one year in the States, even Yamaha threw their hat into the ring with the Yamaha SRX250.

Powered by 250cc single-cylinder 4 stroke engine, the SRX pushed out 17 horsepower and was able to rev up to 9,000 rpm. Want more information? Check out someone’s fan page for the Yamaha SRX250, one of the very few out there.

This example (VIN: JYA2NV002HA000459) went up for sale in a Mecum auction in 2023 (bidding got up to $3,000 and it did not sell) and it’s covered just one mile since – the odoemter shows 8,786. I’m not sure if it’s worth more than what bidding did at Mecum as there’s a few things that are incorrect (the sidecover, the paint on the tank, the wheel color, it’s missing turn signals, etc) but these definitely do not come up very often so it could be a fun one to semi-restore and enjoy.

Find this SRX for sale in Fort Myers, Florida for $5,198 here at Von Baron Motorcycles.
