Post Sale Update: The seller lowered the BIN to $1,700, and that’s the number it sold at!
I’ve featured several examples of Honda’s quirky 3-wheeler called the GYRO (which is apparently an acronym for “Great Your Recreation Original.”) The US only got one of the versions, a “S” model that was focused on just carrying a rider around. But Japan got multiple variants include, the X, the Canopy, and the UP. The UP debuted in 1985 and it got rid of the tie down racks from other models and replaced them with a cargo area in the back which almost perfectly fits a milk crate and can hold 65 pounds. It was a popular light utility vehicle in Japan and a decent sized aftermarket was developed to further the utility with boxes and even roofs for the Gyro UP.
All Gyro UP models utilized a 4 hp, 49cc two-stroke motor that was sufficient for a top speed of approximately 30 miles per hour. The party piece was the mechanism that allow the body to lean into corners – this is a tilting three wheeler. All in all, Honda had seven different variants of this body style but the cargo-focused models were much more commercially successful than the designs focused on personal transport.
This example was imported from Japan for the use of an “advertising company in Las Vegas.” Everything is said to work and it also has an aftermarket windshield. Find this Gyro UP for sale in Hudson, Wisconsin with an unmet opening bid of $1,800
