EDIT: Bike has sold. Thanks.

Background – The Honda NX650, otherwise known as the Dominator, is a rare dual-sport 650cc single cylinder thumper only imported to the US for 2 years, between 1988-1989. The basic specs include a 44 horsepower engine, 5 speed transmission, and a dry weight of 370 pounds. The engine was from the XR650L, but with unique plastics. With regards to this specific bike, I bought it in October 2011 from someone on craigslist because I was looking for a beater dual-sport to learn how to ride in dirt. Cosmetically, it was ugly, but mechanically it was in good shape.

My Ownership – Since 10/2011, I’ve put on 1,500 miles – now it’s currently at 15,502 miles. I ride it once a week, so the mileage will slowly rise. I’ve taken the bike to Gorman, Angeles National Forest, and once down to Baja. I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve dropped it once, when trying to ride over a log. I’ve also had a $250 major service done at Beach Moto (right before taking it to Baja).

Why I’m Selling – I’m no longer a beginner in the dirt and want a more dedicated off-road bike. In addition, I’m looking at buying a bike for my girlfriend for her to practice on. If she wasn’t 5’2”, I’d have her learn on this. Either way, I want a different bike for my new needs, and I don’t have room to keep this if I buy another one.

Current Condition: Like it was when I bought it, it’s mechanically solid but cosmetically poor. The bike comes with:
– rear rack and Givi trunk (45L)
– OEM tool kit
– Kenda knobbies front and rear tires (new)
– Enduro Engineering hand guards
– Extra set of Scott grips (new)
– Recent registration – you’re set till Jan 2014
Two issues:
– Rear turn signals don’t work
– One of the two bulbs in the gauge cluster is burnt out

Payment – Two options:
– Cash – I’m looking for $1600
– Trades – as stated above, I’m looking for a bike for my girlfriend. Options include:
o Nighthawk 250
o Small displacement Honda CB’s (CB125, CB175, CB250, etc.)
o Rebel 250

Thanks for reading! This would be a great bike for someone looking to learn how to play in the dirt. Or, follow the dream I had (though I didn’t have the money or time) and convert it to something like this: http://www.bikeexif.com/honda-dominator-custom
