A couple of months ago, BikeEXIF featured a beautiful bike from the revitalized Paton, a company founded by Giuseppe Pattoni in 1957. Pattoni was chief mechanic of FB Mondial‘s GP Team, and when they pulled out of Grand Prix racing, he started his own company.
In the 80s, the Italian racing firm created the Moto Paton 500 C115/V4, a 4-cylinder two-stroke racer. The seller claims that just four examples were built, and that this is the sole survivor, which is ready to race or display. Paton is not well-known, but those that have previously heard of it are usually more familiar with the 70s race bike – which you can still buy a ‘brand new’ version of for about $100,000. Those bikes produced about 65 horsepower and leave behind bikes like the Matchless G50 or Manx Norton in the dust. Unfortunately, I can’t find a video of the bike currently available for sale, but here’s a startup video of a 70s Paton 500 (a bike which has won the Classic 500cc class of the Manx Grand Prix at Isle of Man over three times):
Find this Moto Paton 500 for sale here at Bator International in Ojai, California for $67,500.
