Here’s a bike I’ve never heard of before – the Yamaha SDR 200. Originally built solely for as a JDM bike, a small amount of SDRs turned into grey-market motorcycles and were imported into Europe and the United States.
The SDR featured a two-stroke single cylinder engine with Yamaha’s YPVS technology. The 195cc engine was good for 34 horsepower, and the motorcycle had a 6-speed transmission. All of that came in a package that weighed just 253 pounds, enabling a claimed top speed of 99 miles per hour.
This example is a recent import from Japan and it unfortunately does not have a title. The seller claims he/she can get you one for an undisclosed extra cost, but be careful! The bike isn’t perfect – it has some cosmetic wear and a dent in the tank, the front brake is a little spongy, and the true mileage is unknown as the speedo/odo has been replaced. But the seller claims this bike was in “very good running condition” before it was imported and you’ll likely be the only one of your friends with one! If you want more photos, feel free to peruse this Flickr album from the seller.
