Post Sale Update: This PD sold for the BIN of $5,500 on eBay.

In 1980, BMW released the R80GS, confirming their ability to upset the market with truly innovative bikes that would set standards in several segments of the market. In 1987, BMW went one step further in the development of the most successful big trailie and released the R100GS and its premium version, the Paris-Dakar.

The R100GS had the famous BMW flat-twin displacing 980cc and developing 60hp at 6,500rpm. Weighing 462 lbs, the GS could reach a top speed of approximately 112 mph. A new Paralever rear suspension system had been implemented as well. The front suspension was upgraded as well with a set of 40mm Marzocchi forks. The Paris Dakar version was the equivalent of our current GSA. It featured a larger gas tank, hard bags and front impact bars. Parked for two years, the bike will need some carbs services, so the seller includes rebuilding kit in the sale. The bike doesn’t come with original panniers, but it does have Jesse bags.
