Before Kawasaki emulated the Z1 with the new Z900RS, they had the “Zephyr”. It was a standard that vaguely pulled styling cues from the Z1, and it was offered in 550, 750, and 1,100cc options. A 400 was also built but that was solely for Japan.
For more on the smallest Zephyr you could get worldwide, check out this review from MCN – they call it an OK commuter that’s underpowered but softly sprung. It’s not a showstopper in any sense but it’s simple, reliable, and it’s got a dash of retro styling.
This example (VIN: JKAZRFB13LA000587) was recently restored with new paint and lots of new parts – seat, bearings, brakes, tires, exhaust, and more. It should be noted that the turn signals and mirrors are not stock. Find this Zephyr for sale here on Craigslist in Oliverhurst, California for $3,800.
