In 1991, Harley released a customized FXDB to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Sturgis rally. One year later, they did the same to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the rally in Daytona. Approximately 1600 and 1700 of the limited models were released, respectively – here’s #1,295 of the former.
I’ve seen a slight variance in production estimates for the Sturgis, but Mecum states that 1,557 were built, 400 of which went to Europe and Canada. The plaque on the bike itself says 1,600, so you have to wonder if actual production did not meet the planned run. The FXDB Sturgis was the first of the Dyna line and it emphasized the black/orange Harley paint scheme over acres of chrome.
