1991 Honda CBR600F2

The successor of the Hurricane, the CBR600F2 was considered to be quite innovative when released in 1991. Many were sold, but few have withstood the test of time (both in terms of staying rubber side down and in terms of originality) like this one.

The 599cc motor in the F2 produced 84.5 horsepower at the rear wheel through a 6-speed transmission and wet weight was 470 pounds. This bike absolutely dominated the AMA under Miggy Duhamel, and it was successful on the street as well. It made excellent, usable power and weighed less than the competition – it took 4 years for someone to come up with a credible challenge (the Ninja ZX-6R). For more information on the F2, check out this profile from Sport Rider (RIP, now hosted on Cycle World), who call it one of the great sportbikes of the past and the beginning of Honda’s 600cc domination of the 90s.

This example (VIN: JH2PC2513MM000891) has just 8,832 miles as it was sitting for about 15 years before getting a recommissioning. “Before it was stored, all maintenance was done at Honda. After storage, I rebuilt the carbs, replaced various vacuum and fuel lines, replaced the petcock, and topped off fluids. The bike was stored dry.” With a tire code of 510 (51st week of the year in 1990), it seems like it’s on the original Michelin M59 tires as well.
