Post Listing Update: This BMW did not meet reserve despite 36 bids up to $6,400 in Woodacre, California.
5-12-20 Update: I featured this last week, but the seller had to relist it. Now it’s got a different tank, and I like the new look enough to share it again for those of you that may have missed it the first time.
The seller’s willing to sell it with the orange tank instead if you’re interested, but…why would you do that? Find it for sale in Woodacre, California with bidding up to $5,200 and the reserve not yet met here on eBay.
Built by Judd Blunk of Blunk’s Garage, this GS has been slimmed down (dry weight is “about 365 pounds”), beefed up, and is ready to “carve Highway 1 and take the Saline valley washboard.” The seller says “it may be the perfect bike.” What do you think?
Highlights of the work to this example (VIN: WB1048809N0230518) includes a stiffened frame with WP USD forks in Hendersen custom triple clamps and an Ohlins shock, both set up by SuperPlush for a 225 pound rider. It has a dual plug motor with Ted Porter heads, 450W EME alternator, MotoGadget electric system with a custom electrical harness, Siebenrock GS gauges, Cyclops LED headlight, custom aluminum subframe, and custom House of Fubar exhaust system. The seller is letting it go to fund a new one.
Judd built two of these – for more on the sister to this machine, check out this article on BikeBound. There’s a lot to love – I think it’s a few cosmetic tweaks away from perfection but that’s subjective. It’s hard to argue with the mechanical capabilities of this refreshed classic.
