Post Sale Update: This 888 SPO sold for $9,600 after 25 bids on eBay.
The 888SPO gets less attention than the average limited edition Ducati, but values are starting to go up as riders are appreciating the wonder of a bike that won both the World Superbike and AMA Superbike championships in 1993. Just 390 were built between 1993 and 1994 (though the ’94 models were officially called the 888LTD).
The 888 produced 94 horsepower thanks to the iconic desmo valve V-Twin. Slight improvements contributed to a quarter mile time of 10.81 seconds on the way to a top speed of 157 miles per hour. Just keep your eyes peeled for head and base gasket leaks, and you should be fine.
This example has 12,153 miles and it’s claimed to be in “tip top turn key and go condition.” Recent work includes an oil and filter change, new timing belts, and new brake/clutch fluids. Extras include an upgraded voltage regulator, Corbin leather seat, Pro Italia clutch slave cylinder, Brembo GP master cylinder, and Ferracci carbon fiber slipons. The seller has had this Ducati since 2001 but it’s time for a new owner. Find this SPO for sale in Long Island, New York with bidding up to $7,400 and the reserve not yet met
