Post Listing Update: This Superlight did not meet reserve despite 18 bids up to $7,501 on eBay in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

In 1992, Ducati took their 900 Supersport and added several choice extras to create a limited edition called the Ducati Superlight – 953 examples were built over 2 years. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, in 1993 they removed almost all the extras, leaving just the solo seat, composite Marvic wheels, and fully floating rear brake to differentiate the limited edition from its less exclusive brother. Today we feature a beautiful example of one of those ’93 models.

The 900SL featured a 80 horsepower, two valve v-twine engine with the desmodromic valves that Ducati is known for. And while it sounds like it’s got all the right features and limited exclusivity, there’s one thing that might take the wind out of your sails. The actual weight savings you got with a “Superlight” version? About 6 pounds. Ducati fans didn’t care, and plenty paid the hefty premium for this limited edition. Ducati considered it a sales success.

This example (VIN: ZDM1LC4M3PB006680) is #771 and it has 25,193 miles. There are several extras, including Ducati Kämna quarter fairings, Termignoni carbon fiber exhaust, Pro Italia billet rearsets, 11.2:1 JE pistons, Keihin 39mm FCR carbs, Galfer stainless steel brake/clutch lines, alloy clipons, Corbin seat, and much more. The sale also includes a Storz shock, Storz steering damper, the original bodywork, the owner’s manual, tool kit, and some spare parts.
