Post Sale Update: Good lord – after 67 bids on eBay, this CBR sold for US $15,000!
The 90s had two sportbikes that were truly ahead of the competition when they were released – the Yamaha R1 and the Honda CBR900RR. The latter was a revolution because of its weight – despite a 50% advantage in displacement over the CBR600F2, this weighed just 4 more pounds. Or for a comparison with its peers, the CBR weighed 76 pounds less than its lightest competition.
The sheer difference in weight made the Honda CBR900RR the clear leader in its segment, and forced competition to adapt. Motorcycle News called the Fireblade “the motorcycle that changed how sports motorcycles were built.”
This red, white, and blue example (VIN: JH2SC2800PM100383) has just 4,301 miles and it’s claimed to be in great shape. There’s some cosmetic wear on the bottom of the fairings and a ‘rub mark’ on the tail from a storage cover. The only aftermarket parts seems to be the brake lines. The seller acquired this bike from the original owner, and he then gave it a service and drained the fluids for storage. You’ll get the owners manual, Honda service manual, and original tool kit.
