Post Listing Update: This XR did not get any interest at the opening bid ask of $1,700.
Scramblers and ADVs have been making a comeback recently, and several well-developed models have resulted in bikes with excellent road manners and tires that can handle a dusty road. However, true dual-sports have a special place in the motorcycling world. In a world full of Chevy Suburbans and crossover SUVs, dual sports are like Jeep Wranglers. And while I too scoff at the amount of Jeeps sitting on 35” tires with clean undercarriages, I could not imagine a world without the Wrangler.
Let us not forget where we started. This 1993 Honda XR250L (VIN: JH2MD2209PM202) has only 1,586 miles, with enough suspension travel to get lost and the reliability to get you back home. It may not be as Instagram friendly as a current Scrambler, but I would argue that it is significantly more capable than street suspension paired with partially knobby tires. And with a starting price of only $1,700, you could spend the money you saved on several weekend getaways. It’s not flashy. It’s not special. And it’s dual sport DNA lives on today through the current CRF250L. Think about that while you rip through traffic and trails alike with wide open throttle.
