In the early 90s, Kawasaki introduced the Zephyr, a retro-styled bike which emulated the legendary Z1. It was available in a wide variety of displacements but the big boy was the 1100, which utilized an evolution of the 8V DOHC air-cooled unit from the GPz1100. The hope was that you’d get modern convenience with classic looks, though the seat of the pants performance apparently did not match the reputation of the original.

The engine was good for about 90 horsepower to deal with the 540 pounds of weight. The main issue with this model seems to be poor resistance to water – corrosion after rain was a common complaint and it looks like there’s evidence of that on this model’s headers. For more on the rare (at least in the US) ZR, check out this article from Sport Rider in which the author customizes it to look and perform more like the original Z1.

This example has 16,500 miles and it looks OK except for the headers and the lower portion of the front fender, which has melted slightly. A used spare fender is included, along with several other parts and the original exhaust. It has a couple of aftermarket goodies – a 4-into-1 Kerker exhaust pipe and a Stage 2 jet kit.
