1993 Yamaha GTS1000 with Sidecar

In 3 Wheels, Japan by Abhi2 Comments

The Yamaha GTS1000 is already a rare bike – and it features one of the coolest front ends in motorcycling history. But combine that with a sidecar that was specifically designed for the GTS, and you’ve got a combo that’s definitely worth featuring on Bike-urious.

Yamaha GTS1000 with Mega Comete Sidecar - Rear Right

Built by Side Bike, the Mega Comete sidecar was built just for the GTS, with an interesting linkage into the hub-center steering of the front wheel. These rigs are somewhat popular in Europe but the seller knows of only 2 in the US, including is. I sure as hell don’t know of any other! Here’s some pictures of the build of a different Mega Comete. Speaking of photos, I got lost in a thread on ADVRider of riders ‘flying the chair’, with gems like this:

This specific example has 13,500 miles and is being offered by the 2nd owner, who has had it for 14 years. Extras include the fancy paint job (most of the decals are removable), BMW mirrors, MRA windshield, and a Rick Mayer saddle.

Find this combo for sale in Northern Virginia for $14,500 here on Sidecar.com. Note that you cannot see the photos without registering!
