One of the drawbacks of sidecars is how it changes the bike’s cornering dynamics. But a Swiss company called ARMEC offers a solution – a sidecar designed to allow for the motorcycle to lean as normal. They call it the Sidewinder, and it’s a rare sight in the US.
This all sounds fine in theory, but it’s best for you to see how it looks in motion:
ARMEC is not very open about their pricing, but according to forums you’re looking at easily over $15,000 if you wanted JUST the sidecar new nowadays. That’s why picking up a used rig that’s already been put together is very appealing in this case. The sidecar can be removed in about 10 minutes and it requires no welding (but a support frame will stay on the bike). I imagine less than 10 of you are actually interested in something like this, but you few have probably been waiting for a while for something like this to come on the market.
This bike (VIN: WB1041609S0312271) has 39,545 miles on the odometer, almost of all of which were covered before the hack was attached. The ECU has been tuned for the installation of a Remus exhaust. Everything is said to work great and the sale includes covers for the sidecar and the factory BMW luggage. The sidecar originally came from none other than Gary Nixon’s Battle of the Legends racer, which is why the the sidecar was painted with the dark blue body/yellow wheels. To make sure things match, the seller repainted the bike in the same way.
