Offered exclusively to North American customers, the SP (Sport Production) variant of the 900SS was a limited production bike equipped with upgrades like carbon fiber fenders, adjustable Showa suspension, and more. The limited numbers mean it’s not a common platform for custom builders, but that didn’t stop whomever tackled this bike. How would you say it ended up?
I should start off by saying that my favorite SS/SP custom to date (though not much of the original bike was left by the end) is the J63 by Revival Cycles. This bike sticks closer to what rolled out of Ducati’s factory, but it’s been given a fairing that’s supposed to evoke the iconic 750SS, Dunstall exhaust, PSR clutch slave, and a vivid aqua paint job. Though the bike is claimed to run well, you’ll want to replace the brake pads, rear tire, and neutral switch.
