1995 MZ Skorpion

Post Sale Update: This MZ Skorpion was pulled off eBay, sale price unknown.

The MZ Skorpion was the result of an international partnership between a British design firm, the East German manufacturer, MZ, and Yamaha. Weighing 380 pounds and packing 48 horsepower, this is a rare sportbike that has become quite the cult classic.

MZ Skorpion - Right Rear

The Skorpion utilizes the engine and electrical systems from a Yamaha XT660, and the brakes/suspension from Italian firm Grimeca. Some came without a front fairing, but I much prefer the looks of the bikes with said fairing. The Skorpions were relatively light weight, and even inspired some one-make cup racing back in the motherland. They were well equipped from the factory, including adjustable clip-ons and rear sets.

MZ Skorpion - Gauges

This specific MZ Skorpion somehow just has 761 miles. Equipped with Tarozzi clip-ons and a Holeshot stainless steel exhaust with appropriate jetting, it’s had appropriate modifications that belie how few miles have actually been put on this bike. Two minor cosmetic issues you should be aware of: stress crack in the lower right fairing, and two shipping “rub spots” on the rear cowling.
