The Italians are good at many crafts, but coachbuilding is their thing. It doesn’t matter the engine, it just feels better draped in an Italian frame and body. The Bimota SB6R takes Suzuki’s monster GSXR-1100 engine and gives it Italian touches like a polished frame and carbon fiber accents. Paioli suspension and Brembo brakes keep the rubber on the road, and were good enough to cement the SB6’s place among superbikes of the time. Motorcycle News noted the SB6 as, “For many the pinnacle of old school Bimota craft.” See? Coachbuilding.
This 1996 Bimota SB6R has 8,700 miles. It was imported from Belgium to Los Angeles in 2000, and has been stored in a collection for 15 years. A Yves Van Heers quad pipe exhaust comes installed, and it’s even more 90s than I imagined 4 pipes would be. The original exhaust, along with a workshop manual and parts book are included. The pictures probably don’t even do justice to the red paint. No blemishes are highlighted, and the bike listed as #144 of 600. What would you offer for this old school brawler in a wearing a dinner jacket?
