Post Listing Update: This YB11 did not get any interest at the BIN of $6,799.
Everyone has their own idea of what the perfect modifications to make to their machine are. Some like clip-ons, some like suspension components, and some want a little extra oomph to assert themselves in traffic. Then there is Bimota, a company dedicated to taking engines we know and love, and wrapping them in expensive Italian suits. No one would put a Yamaha YZF-1000 in their living room, but in the case of the Bimota YB11, it just might be worthy of replacing your favorite centerpiece.
In this case, Bimota took a Yamaha YZF-1000 engine and draped it the highest quality components for 1999. Brembo brakes, Paioli suspension, and even carbon fiber bodywork are some of the features included. This bike was over $20,000 new, and can now be had for the Buy It Now price of $6,799. This YB11 (VIN: ZES1YB116VRZES021) was stored in a museum since 2003 and was well cared for but probably not ridden. It has 11,111 miles listed in the ad, with some TLC required to make up for 90’s Italian electronics.
A quick search revealed that Bonhams sold a Bimota YB11 for $5,568 in 2012. If you are into obscure Italian manufacturers and want to own this museum kept piece of art, it’s a safe bet you’ll be the only Bimota at any cars and coffee you attend.
