The MZ Skorpion was the result of an international partnership between a British design firm (Seymourpowell), an East German manufacturer (MZ), and a Japanese engine (Yamaha). Weighing just 380 pounds and packing 48 horsepower, this is a great option if you’re looking for a rare ~600cc sportbike – and this example is even better as it is one of the lightweight Cup models.
The Skorpion utilizes the engine and electrical systems from a Yamaha XT660, and the brakes/suspension from Italian firm Grimeca. They were well equipped from the factory, including adjustable clip-ons and rear sets. MZ took it one step further with the MZ Skorpion Sport Cup, which was a Sport model but stripped of even more weight. The Cup got a full fairing and single seat, and was designed with the intent of enabling one-make clubman racing (which did happen in certain countries around 2000).
This specific MZ Skorpion Sport Cup (VIN: SNZ6SES27V7504716) has 3,764 miles and is claimed to be in “truly excellent condition.” You’ll get the original tool kit, factory solo seat cover, owners manual, and a center stand from a Skorpion Traveller to help with maintenance. From the pictures (which may be old) it looks like this bike was last tagged in 2015. Find this Skorpion Sport Cup for sale in Littleton, Massachusetts with bidding up to $2,499
