One of the 24 RS bikes built by Ducati in 1998, this is claimed to be the rarest as it still has a analog dashboard and the 916 frame color. I apologize in advance – I don’t know enough about the RS bikes to verify if that’s true or not. The story is that this bike was sold to Dolomiti Racing for one season and then to NCR in 1999 where it was used as a backup bike. From what I’ve seen, these bikes could hit between 80-95 miles per hour in first gear because of the close ratio transmissions – apparently you had to slip the clutch until about 40 miles per hour.
This Ducati 996RS apparently has “all the works specs” parts like 16.5″ wheels, the large fuel tank, and magnesium swingarm. Find it for sale in Alcheda, Italy with bidding up to $18,988 and the reserve not yet met
