Introduced in 1979, Honda’s Z50R was built in response to a market that was looking to take mini trail bikes on to the track. Here’s one of the last examples, as Honda would replace the model in 2000 with the XR50R. Over a 20 year production run, Honda sold over 500,000 units.
The ’98 models shared the 49cc four-stroke single from previous years, as well as the automatic 3-speed transmission. The base color was Shasta White while the Z50R logo on the seat was now black. Also new for ’98 was a yellow Honda ‘wing’ in the tank logo. For more information, check out this owners manual for the ’99 model. This example (VIN: JH2AB0200WK700830) is said to be entirely original except for the grips, which are red units from the earlier “Christmas Special“. The only flaw seems to be a dent in the left side of the fuel tank, and the seller says everything works.
