Post Listing Update: This Magni Sport 1200S did not meet reserve despite 20 bids up to $11,600 on eBay in New York, New York.
An Italian with the heart of a Suzuki Bandit 1200, the Magni Sport 1200S had Bimota-like potential but it underwhelmed both from a performance and a sales standpoint.
Many consumers unfairly were disappointed by the engine just because of the ‘blandness’ of the donor bike, and not on merit. In addition, while this Magni was supposed to evoke the iconic MV 750 Sport, some felt it looked too much like a naked Bandit with a slick paint job. On top of all that, it was uncomfortable and difficult to ride. But the components were solid (chromoly frame, Brembo brakes, Ceriani forks) and the Suzuki engine was a winner that could get you up to 140 miles per hour. This Magni (VIN: 0132) was mistakenly called a Sfida by the seller, though it is actually a Sport 1200S – as clearly shown on the sidecovers. It comes out of the Stuart Parr collection and it has just over 10,000 miles (17,000 km). Stuart correctly notes that the motor means it’ll be reliable and easy to service, though it is offered with a Bill of Sale and the mph stickers on the speedo have to go, even if they’d be helpful on the road.
