When people think of Harley police bikes, the Dyna platform doesn’t usually spring to mind. Yet between 2001-2004, Harley sold a police-issue Dyna (called the FXDP Dyna Defender) that did not get much love, making it a cool and rare find now.
The FXDP made it on Motorcycle.com’s list of top 10 Harleys of all time, and it was different from the base Dyna as it had a solo saddle, run flat tires, floor boards, dual front discs, different bags, and more. Just 300 bikes a year were produced.
This example has just under 8,000 miles and it comes with the rare police lights (though the red and blue lenses have been replaced with white ones), a V&H pipe, plus a 2-up seat and forward controls. This bike apparently has spent its entire life in civilian hands. Find this Dyna Defender for sale here on Craigslist in Long Island, New York for $9,600.
