Here’s a touring version of Guzzi’s incredibly long-lasting California line. Adorned in a distinctive red and white paint scheme that is somewhat reminiscent of a candy cane, this bike is ready for a rider who wants to tour the country in something more unique than the typical American cruisers.
The 1064cc 90cc V-Twin produced 74 horsepower, and handles much better than you’d expect from the “cruiser” moniker. In 2001, the bike was updated, including a rare decrease in power (just 1 horsepower) due to emissions regulations. Top speed was 115 miles per hour and it got a decent 44 miles per gallon. It came with a fairing and floorboards. For more on the Cal Touring, check out this profile on Motorcycle Cruiser.
This example (VIN: ZGUKDBKD01M115956) shows just under 20,000 miles and it’s claimed to need nothing – though the title says mileage is exempt so the odometer reading may not be accurate. The distinctive fairing does not seem to be OEM, but I don’t know which aftermarket company makes it. All I know is that it makes me think of a cobra.
