The Moto Guzzi California 1100EV is the result of a long history of Guzzis dating back to the the V7 in the early 1970s – surprisingly similar to previous Tonti framed bikes. Today we’ve got an unique option, one that’s been converted to police duty for the state of North Carolina, though they decided to instead go with a fleet of Harley’s.
The 1064cc 90cc V-Twin produced 74 horsepower, and handles much better than you’d expect from the “cruiser” moniker. In 2001, the bike was updated, including a rare decrease in power (just 1 horsepower) due to emissions regulations. The EV is the base model, though this Police variant gets all kinds of goodies like lights, luggage, and radio equipment. Top speed was 115 miles per hour and it got a decent 44 miles per gallon.
This specific Moto Guzzi California Police is a 1 of 1 – it’s unclear if MG themselves mocked this up, or if it was the work of a local dealership, but either way it’s fantastic.
