Ducati built between 1994 and 2002, the 748 was Ducati’s mid-sized superbike which traded a bit of top end power for lighter weight and quicker revs. It also obviously kept the 916’s defining style, as well. The ultimate offering of the 748 was the non-street-legal RS, a homologation special built in very limited numbers that featured carbon fiber bodywork, 54mm Termignoni exhaust, upgraded cams, and no pretenses for street legality – even the wiring harness was set up for race only work.
The seller of this example says that it was sold new by Advanced Motor Sports in Alvarado, Texas – they also handled all the service. Upgrades include a 853cc big bore kit, STM slipper clutch, and digital dash. The bike has not been ridden in 12 years so you’ll need to go through the usual fettling of fluids/belts/tires, but these were maintenance heavy bikes even when new (think valve replacements every 750 miles). For more on what made the RS different, check out this story from Sigma Performance, who raced a 748RS in British Championship Supersport racing.
