In 2002, Ducati released a limited edition of their beautiful 998 – the distinctive Ben Bostrom Replica. A total of 310 were built – 155 in the US and 155 in the UK. Why 155? That’s the race number Bostrom used in AMA Superbike on his 998S racer. Every single one was signed on the tank by Ben himself, and MSRP was $22,695.
As a limited-edition bike, the Ducati 998S Ben Bostrom Replica had it’s share of upgrades over the base 998. These included full carbon-fiber bodywork, four-pot brembos, and Ohlins forks, shocks, and damper instead of the original Showa’s.
This specific Ducati 998S Ben Bostrom Replica is number 81 of the 155 produced. The seller, who is currently the second owner, has done a good job of documenting even the most minor of flaws. But the focus should really be on the low mileage (just over 5,000) and the upgrades, of which the carbon Termignoni slipons are most exciting. The seller also has an original Bostrom bike cover for sale, but is looking for a bit more money before he’ll let that go. We’d take him up on it – you’re going to have a very tough time finding another one for sale on its own.
