When Ben Bostrom was competing in AMA Superbike with a 998S, he raced with the number 155. So when Ducati decided to sell a limited edition replica, the production quantity was obviously…310. OK, that might not make sense at first glance, but it comes from totaling up 155 bikes in the US and 155 in the UK. Ben signed every tank himself, which partially explains the $22,695 MSRP.
I’m generally cynical when it comes to limited edition Ducatis, as the differences are usually just cosmetic. In this case, the Bostrom rep also got you an Ohlins fork. For reasons I haven’t been able to figure out, Ducati was not allowed to paint the replicas like the race bike, so they based the paint scheme on Ben’s helmet instead. US riders got screwed a little bit here, as the UK “S” model got a hotted up engine. US “S” models got 4 pot Brembos, Ohlins steering damper, larger exhaust, and a carbon belly pan. But the engine was the same.
This example (VIN: ZDM1SB5V02B015186) has 5,723 miles and the seller says it needs nothing because it was just given a service and brand new tires (original tires included). It has several period upgrades – full Termi exhaust with ECU, Helibars, several Rizoma pieces, and plenty more small pieces. Hope you like blue wheels.
