The Baghira was a dual-sport with Acerbis bodywork, WP suspension, and a Yamaha drivetrain – and those components came together to form a rare and competent mid-sized dual sport.
MZ contracted with Yamaha to supply the engine for this bike – they used the 660cc thumper from the XT660. Power was impressive, with 50 horsepower and 42 pound-feet of torque. Compare that to the modern day Kawasaki KLR 650, which still only puts out about 40 (admittedly, it’s one of the weakest of the current 650 crop of dual sports). We always thought these were odd looking bikes, but they were ahead of the time, and are definitely rare. Finding replacement bodywork can be a chore, but thanks to the Yammy engine, mechanical maintenance is much easier than the bike’s rarity would suggest.
This example (VIN: SNZ6FE3R028003589) has 5,387 miles on the odometer and per the seller it runs great and is in excellent condition. Annoyingly, that’s all he/she has to say about it. Find this Baghira for sale in Ayer, Massachusetts for $3,195 here on Craigslist.
