Post Sale Update: This Tuono sold for $8,560 in Hawthorne, California on Iconic Motorbike Auctions.
The modern Aprilia Tuono is a perennial shootout winner, but one of my favorites of the model goes back to the beginning – the limited production Tuono Racing.
The stock Tuono was impressive in its own way, but the only-for-2003 Tuono Racing took it to the next level with high-end components including carbon fiber bodywork, OZ wheels, Brembo radial calipers, and Ohlins suspension (forks, steering damper, and shocks). There was also a full factory kit which included a carbon fiber front fairing with number plate/headlight delete, longer carbon fiber belly pan with built-in oil catch tank, mesh taillight cover, reverse-pattern shifter, race chip, and titanium exhaust can. Sometimes you’ll find these and a few parts have gone missing over the years – but this bike has every single part of the factory kit. According to this review on Motorcyclist, just 50 made it to the United States.
The seller of this example (VIN: ZD4RPC0583S000065) acquired it from the original owner approximately a year ago. It has 6,521 miles (the 6,000 mile service was recently performed) and it’s got a couple of aftermarket upgrades – Sargent seat and Oberon clutch slave cylinder.
Find this rare Tuono for sale in Marina del Rey, California with bidding up to $5,000 and the reserve met here on Iconic Motorbike Auctions.
