When it was founded in 1993, Bourget’s Bike Works was an serious innovator in the world of choppers thanks to Roger Bourget, who founded the company with his wife. In 2005, the couple split, and in 2009, Roger opened up a new shop with his new wife. Here’s one of the bikes created during the heyday of Bourget’s Bike Works.
That’s obviously a very simplified version of the story – if you want more details on the man (he’s the kind of guy who names his twin sons Clutch and Cam!), check out his site here. But just for today, let’s travel back a decade or so to before BBW fell apart. In 2003, Bourget was cranking out about 800 bikes/year out of their shop in Phoenix. Out of those 800 were 9 limited editions bikes called the Auti-Mo, designed as a tribute to Roger’s daughter Autumn, whom he lost in a motorcycle accident. Autumn was into sportbikes, so Roger went with a sportier design than usual. For more information, check out this profile from Hot Bike.
This Auti-Mo (VIN: 1b9bay8ax3a393495) is #3 of 9, and it’s got just 85 miles on it. Everything about this bike is big – 2,376 cc of displacement, 200 horsepower, 250 rear tire, who knows how many pounds of weight…you get the idea. It got an oil change at 73 miles and it’s ready to go, however it should be noted that the tach does not work and the speedometer is stuck at 120 miles per hour, which apparently happened during a pass at Englishtown Raceway.
