1-4-15 Update: This V-Raptor is back up for sale with nicer photos and a BIN of $6,500 or best offer
The Cagiva V-Raptor was designed as alternative to the Ducati Monster – they were even styled by the same man. Though there are plenty of similarities, the Raptor comes with the V-Twin heart from a Suzuki TL.
While the Suzuki V-Twin made 124 horsepower in the TL, it has been detuned to about 105 in the Cagiva. The base model was simply called the Raptor, and it looks an awful lot like a base Monster. The “V-Raptor” model got an extra 7 horsepower, different bars, and the crazy fairing you see in front of you. An Xtra Raptor was also available, but it’s hard enough to find any version of the Raptor in the US. Want to learn more? Check out this writeup from MotorcycleUSA of the base model Raptor 1000. I’ve never seen one of these in the wild, let alone seen one for sale.
This specific Cagiva V-Raptor (VIN: ZCGM201AAY000838) is missing the right side chain adjuster, but other than that it seems to be great. The photo backgrounds are a bit depressing, but they show plenty of upgrades, including carbon fiber extras, dual Zorstec exhaust, and a repaint, presumably done after the bike was dropped.
